All plywood parts are ground, grooved and shaped. Here spreading the filler into the grooves.

Alex chose to carve out grooves in parts of the plywood to achieve a better mechanical bond, particularly in places where it will be hard to glass around. Like on the level of the drawers, as we had no will to dismount and tear apart the whole interior.

Another biscuit joint to bond the existing half bulkhead with the new extension.

Screwing in place.

And there the whole new bulkhead is up. Almost done now. Now remains only carbon tape and fairing, before painting and a mahogany trim that is going to be installed. More to follow...

Kram!

Great work, hope to see more updates about the repairs etc. you are making.
Great work as always Alex. can't wait to see how it turns out.
Enjoy seeing Alex's work. West Systems is wonderful stuff, isn't it ? While not a pleasant undertaking, that looks like an important structural improvement or re-creation midship in support of the hull & rig. Look fwd to seeing the fairing steps. Be grateful Alex is talented. That would cost a fortune to design and hire out

Hola como estan? .. Hope your doing well, fortunately found your blog a month ago and I’ve been reading a bit every day . I Finally finished and I had to leave a comment , your blog is amazing!! It enables people like myself come along in your wonderful trips! Am a huge fan!! Am also amazed on the courage you and Alex had, it isn’t easy to say goodbye to all the things you own and all the people you love!! Such an inspiration .. keep on traveling and thanks for sharing♥
Ah yes, this is more like real cruising...however Alex doesn't seem to be sweating enough.
Were you able to find West Systems locally, or did you have to order it from the internet. We found that we could get Epoxy and Filler for less than half the West Systems price from US Composites on the internet.
I love seeing the progress, while I still dream of doing what you are doing.
Kram!
Regarding epoxy and filler: Alex uses West System too, but mainly Sicomin at the moment, which is what's currently inside of the West System cans.

Awesome, I wish I had these boat skills.
